Nap Trapped REPORT #2
Everything I've been obsessed with this month, for you to enjoy while Nap Trapped.
Hi my friends!
Welcome to the second edition of my REPORT series here on Substack! I am making zero promises for how often these come out because I want to truly have stuff to SHARE! I want to be excited to write it for you vs. feeling tied to an imaginary deadline, filling it with fluff just for the sake of hitting publish, ya know?
My hope for this list is that I can provide all of you with some fun things to consume while you’re “Nap Trapped” (or trapped in the pick up line, or bored at work, or up late at night pumping, etc. etc.).
READING: I’m fully on board the Abby Jimenez train 🚂 and just finished Just for the Summer! This was the second of her books that I read (devoured) and they are just *perfect* for a light, fun and romantic read! They are definitely not the spiciest of books, but they’ve got enough to keep things interesting and I love that they aren’t over the top or cringey like other rom-com type books can be. They deal with real life themes (mental health, pregnancy loss etc.) as well, which makes them feel just “deep” enough without being too depressing. Highly recommend!
I also just started When God Was a Woman. This has been on my list forever after seeing a Tiktok about it, and I’ve just started but am excited to get more into it. It’s all about how the ancient shift from matriarchy to patriarchy happened.
I brushed up on How to Not Hate Your Husband After Kids for an upcoming episode of NOTU, and it’s SO good! Admittedly my husband and I are in a much better place now than when we were in the throes of sleep-deprived baby life, but it’s still a great refresher on communication— and it’s FUNNY!
Books my kids are loving:
*You can always find my recently read books, parenting book recs, and favorite baby/ kid book lists here!
EATING: Broccoli Salad is my new obsession. My kids also LOVE it (why do so many little kids love broccoli but no other veggie!?) and Marley could eat an entire bowl as well. It’s a great side with some grilled chicken and it’s a perfect dish if you need to bring something to a BBQ! *A few notes on this recipe- I do pumpkin seeds rather than the sunflower seeds, and I use shallot instead of red onion (less strong). I’ve also used dried cherries instead of the cranberries and it tasted the same!
I’ve also been very into smash burger “tacos” and they are a perfect easy quick weeknight meal!

PLAYING: Outside more, hooray! It’s finally warming up here in the bay and we’re loving hanging in our backyard, taking care of our little garden, and going to the beach for walks and bike rides.
It’s almost summer and skin protection is soooo important while playing outside! I love this brand of self-tanner for a glow without sitting in the sun for hours.
This is my go-to for face sunscreen in the morning (BTW- did you know you’re supposed to wait 20 min to apply makeup over your sunscreen!? Charlotte Palermino just did a video about this and I was shook!).
I also love Supergoop brand and it’s currently on sale for 20% off! They have the full-body lotion that I use. I use this one while out and about for reapplication!
For the kids, I usually like to use the Thinkbaby brand. Hats are also a must! Here are my favorite sun hats for the bigger kids, and the one I love for babies (20% off rn!)
OBSESSING: Over the reviews for my new podcast with my friend Caitlin- You’re So Right! It’s been just a couple of weeks but we are getting such amazing feedback and it feels so good to be doing something that’s kind of just for fun! Take a listen to our first two episodes:
I’m also obsessing over this viral dress from Anthro. Lots of colors/ patterns, somehow looks amazing on everyone??? And nursing friendly(!!).
RECOMMENDING: Everyone with big kids check out Sam Kelly. She’s on IG as @samkelly_world and I’ve been loving her content ever since I found her. As you may know from my shares in IG stories, my house can quickly devolve into a complete disaster zone despite the fact that my husband and I are both home and technically able to tidy up whenever we want. The kids’ STUFF is just everywhere, all the time. We just recently started implementing Sam’s “Notice and Do” philosophy about getting kids involved in not only clean up time but the mental load of running a home as well, and so far so good!
TREATING: As I shared on IG last week, weaning has made me gain some weight back which was a very unwelcome surprise! It can feel discouraging when none of your clothes fit!
I bit the bullet and bought some new pants instead of starving myself until I could get into the old ones, and it feels good. These barrel jeans and khaki pants from Gap (both currently on sale!) have been SO comfy and I am obsessed with the way they fit! I am 5’1 so got a petite.
I also needed some new bras for post-weaning boobs. I polled the people and the Soma Enbliss bras were the ones that were recommended over and over again! I got 3 different styles and can’t wait for them to arrive!
These crochet sandals are so cute for summer and comfy enough to walk a lot in!
My Claire V. Crossbody is something I already own but something that you may want to purchase for yourself if you’re going to be out and about a lot this summer! I am in loveeeee with this fanny pack bag because it’s perfect for every day (fits a diaper and wipes!) but is so cute you’ll wear it out for date night too. I’ve used mine every single day for over a year, and there are TONS of fun colors and materials! I know you can find them second hand on Poshmark and similar sites too!
That’s all for now, hope you’re having a wonderful week.
